SAFRA Sheares Bridge Bridge Run And Army Half Marathon

Timex wrapped up another successful year as the official time-keeper for the region’s largest mass running event, the 16th SAFRA Sheares Bridge Run & Army Half Marathon 2007, held on 26 August.  Known also as the Singapore Bay Run, this mammoth event attracted some 70,000 running enthusiasts, a substantial 20% increase from 2006, achieving a new record high.

The 21km route started at the picturesque Esplanade Bridge, running through Chinatown, Benjamin Sheares Bridge and ending at a new venue this year : the newly constructed National Day Parade (NDP) floating platform at Marina Bay.  The Singapore Bay Run was immensely popular as it spanned a scenic route that took participants through some of the city’s most important landmarks such as the Parliament House, Singapore Flyer and the newly developed Marina Bay area.

Seen participating in the run were Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for the Community, Youth and Sports and Members of Parliament (MP) Ms Jessica Tan and Mr Michael Palmer. Guest of Honour, Minister for Defence, Mr Teo Chee Hean gave out Timex watches to race winners and participants, wrapping up a day of fun and interaction.
